Adobe InDesign 2.0
Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing tool that replaced Aldus/Adobe PageMaker. Initially it competed with Quark XPress, which had become the dominant desktop publishing tool at the time.
InDesign featured a more modular architecture and better workflow integration with other Adobe products.
Although its desktop publishing features were mostly on-par with Quark Express, it succeeded as a foundation around which Adobe built a publishing "ecosystem".
Release notes
Version 2.0 of InDesign saw improvements with transparency and shadowing effects, and better support for long documents with table of content and indexing features.
