Adobe InDesign 1.5
Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing tool that replaced Aldus/Adobe PageMaker. Initially it competed with Quark XPress, which had become the dominant desktop publishing tool at the time.
InDesign featured a more modular architecture and better workflow integration with other Adobe products.
Although its desktop publishing features were mostly on-par with Quark Express, it succeeded as a foundation around which Adobe built a publishing "ecosystem".
Release notes
Version 1.5 of InDesign had only been released 6 months after the initial release in early 2000. This included many new features that were criticized for not being included in the initial release. Some of the added features were drag-and-drop color, eyedropper tool, and enhanced palettes, grids, rulers, and shape drawing.
