Adobe InDesign 1.0
Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing tool that replaced Aldus/Adobe PageMaker. Initially it competed with Quark XPress, which had become the dominant desktop publishing tool at the time.
InDesign featured a more modular architecture and better workflow integration with other Adobe products.
Although its desktop publishing features were mostly on-par with Quark Express, it succeeded as a foundation around which Adobe built a publishing "ecosystem".
Release notes
Adobe's flagship desktop publishing application that superseded PageMaker. Professional use of PageMaker had waned and this was effectively a major refresh to be a viable alternative to QuarkXpress. Requires Windows 98 or NT 4.0 SP4.
