Peachtree Complete Accounting Crystal 5.0
Peachtree Accounting was originally created in 1975 by an Altair dealer, The Computer SystemCenter, in Atlanta, Georgia to help sell Altair computers. That possibly would have made it the first accounting package for personal computers.
It was marketed as a complete accounting solution for small businesses.
In 1981, IBM chose the Peachtree accounting software as one of the titles that it would brand with the IBM logo and sell alongside their IBM Personal Computer. This instantly increased the product's popularity.
Originally, Peachtree Accounting consisted of separate software modules such as General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Invoicing, and Order Entry. In 1986 Peachtree merged its 8 different accounting modules in to one package, and renamed it to "Peachtree Complete Accounting".
Peachtree software also created a number separate products, such as Preachtree Home Accounting.

Peachtree "Crystal Accounting" was Peachtree Software's first accounting package for Microsoft Windows. Crystal Accounting was, in fact, an enhanced version of Bookkeeping by Design for Windows from the company Accounting By Design. It effectively served as a boring-looking but fully functional placeholder product until Peachtree Software shipped a completely revamped Windows product.
Crystal Accounting was originally designed for Microsoft Windows 2.0. It is claimed to be the first accounting package for Microsoft Windows.
Version 5 appears to be the last of the "Crystal Accounting" series, after which it was replaced by "Peachtree Accounting for Windows, Release 2", (followed by 3, 4, and so on) beginning the current version numbering.
Note: This product release is officially branded as "Peachtree Accounting for Windows Version 5.0 Batch C7", dropping the "Crystal" name. However, this would create a naming conflict.
