Wendin DOS 2.11
Wendin DOS, from Wendin Inc. of Spokane, Washington, is an obscure VMS inspired clone of MS/PC-DOS that runs on 8088 machines, but offers multitasking on 386+.
It was basically implemented as a reusable VMS-inspired OS kernel for x86, with an MS-DOS personality layered on top of it. It supported running applications in multiple "windows" on the local display.
It was primarily targeted for use on large special purpose/industrial multitasking systems operated via terminals, and intended to run "well behaved" MS-DOS business applications.
It competed with the similar products PC-MOS, and Concurrent DOS. In many way it attempted to deliver the promises made by Multitasking MS-DOS 4, and early command-line OS/2.
Windin Inc, also published an Operating System Toolkit that one could use to customize their OS kernel.
