AIX AIX PS/2

AIX (Advanced Interactive eXecutive) is a Unix port originally developed by IBM and released in 1986 for the IBM RT 6150, a RISC based desktop workstation. It was later ported to the RS/6000, POWER, and PowerPC platforms as well as IBM System i, System/370 mainframes, and the PS/2 personal computers, and the Apple Network Server.

AIX PS2 is a port of IBM's AIX Unix to their 32-bit 386 IBM PS/2 computers.

AIX for PS/2 had the following releases:

  • AIX PS/2 v1.1, March 1989
  • AIX PS/2 v1.2, March 1990
  • AIX PS/2 v1.2.1, May 1991
  • AIX PS/2 v1.3, October 1992
       o Patches supporting non PS/2 hardware and systems, 1993
       o Patches supporting IBM ThinkPad 750C family of notebook computers, 1994
       o Withdrawn from sale in US, March 1995
