Fujitsu Siemens B142-restore problem

edited October 2016 in Software
I've bought a nice F-S B142, and I wanted to make a clean install of Windows 98SE, but I can't do it on my own.
I've got PLOP installed (laptop doesn't have any floppy or optical drives) and tried to install it from USB according to this tutorial: http://www.rmprepusb.com/tutorials/117, but I'm stuck in this moment. http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/dd1c/ei0am3z572sz0a4zg.jpg

  • The way PLOP is trying to mount the ISO requires you to have enough system memory to fit the whole file, and the internet says this machine maxes at 160MB, so this method won't work unless you trim the disc.
The directions on the RMPREPUSB site do mention that you have to manually trim the ISO by cutting out fluff, but it still said 256MB or more of available memory needed. Your ISO is currently around 223MB.

You're going to want to either buy a compatible floppy / optical drive or take out the hard drive and put it into either another machine directly or a 44 pin IDE to USB enclosure and use another machine to copy the OS files over to the drive.
  • I'd rather take out my HDD, install MS-DOS 6.22 via virtualization program on my second PC, copy Windows 98 files to it and finish installation on this device.
