What soundcard should I look to get for an IBM PS/1 486SX25?

edited June 2016 in Hardware
Hello all,

I have been looking through some boards lately since the OPTi ISA soundcard I currently have isn't cooperating when it comes to installing drivers. I'm not sure what I should look for, however I am in the market for a SoundBlaster16 or SB16 Clone card for the ISA expansion bus. If anybody would like to know more about my OPTi card I'd be happy to share an image of it along with the chip part number, etc..

Thanks for the help,

  • I've never had the privilege to work on a PC like that. I don't see why a SoundBlaster 16 wouldn't work well. Never heard of an OPTi card. Is that some kind of SB clone or what? Which OS are you using?
  • Opti was a semiconductor company that made a variety of chips, including sound related ones. Cheap clone cards often used their chips.
