ms-dos screen cut-off

i recently purchased a vga to av converter to use my vga pc with my old green monochrome display,
the problem im having is that the first letter of the dos prompt is cut-off
i have tried adjusting both the converter and the monitor
i have also tried the command mode bw80,L witch didn't work :?
the problem is also visible in the video bios and POST screens

    I'd test that converter hooked up to the composite input of a more recent TV and see if it still cuts off. If it does, then it may be a compatiblity issue with the VGA card.

    Those converters never worked right for me. Might have to manually trim the Horizontal and Vertical on the monitor to get a proper display.
  • BODBOD
    If it doesn't have the adjustment pots on a control panel somewhere, they'll likely be buried somewhere inside the CRT somewhere.
