edited January 2017 in Offers & Requests
This thread is for offering Microsoft Windows 2.x ~ 3.0x. (Not for 1.0x or 3.1x)

*Microsoft Windows 2.10 (386) (3.5")

Unfortunately, that is modified on boot ID of boot sector.
This must be dumped without write protection.

I've fix and recovered it.
This is just same with original default.

  • Every time I think I've got caught up on your stuff, you go and upload some more :)

BTW, those Windows 2.03 images are not "286" branded versions.

Quite correct, since Microsoft did not use the "Windows/286" brand name until Windows/286 2.1 and Windows/386 2.1, which has also misled many people to incorrectly believe that either Windows/386 was not released until then, or that Windows/286 2.1 and Windows/386 2.1 were only released because of the separate versions mentioned above.

    Oops, my mistakes,hehehe.

    Can you remove "286" instead?

    Indeed.
Windows 386 was released from 2.01. (Windows 286 was from 2.10)
  • I'm guessing there should also be a non-386 Windows 2.01, (the excel 2.00 disks have the 2.01 runtime) but that might be hard to spot as all of the 2.0x disks I have seen are simply labeled "2.0".

The label says 2.0, but the version indicates 2.01 on disk contents.
  • According to Michal Necasek on OS/2 Museum (known simply as michaln in the comments section), Windows/386 was apparently released before Windows 2.0 was officially released, which would explain why the earliest version of Windows/386 is Windows/386 2.01:

It’s hard to piece the exact timeline together, but Windows/386 appears to have been released before Windows 2.0. The Windows/386 release is labeled 2.01 and is dated September 1987. The only version of Windows 2.0 I know of that didn’t have a /286 or /386 suffix is labeled 2.03 and the files are dated November 1987.

  • Thanks.

Incidentally, looking closer, the download "Microsoft Windows 3.0 (3.5 HD)" is actually a 1.44mb resized version of the 1.2mb disks, so I have removed that.
