MS-DOS 5.00 doesn't work.

edited July 2017 in Software
The MS-DOS 5.00 images I downloaded from the archives doesn't seem to work, as when I put in disk 1, it refuses to boot from it, and even when I boot with the MS-DOS 6.22 boot disk I have and run the setup program from there, it still refuses to do anything.

the images were originally 360k 5.25, but I extracted them and then made 1.44mb "3.5 images, but the floppies were formatted fine, and I doubt this has anything to do with it.

Does anyone know, if I am doing something wrong, or if the images are really buggy?

  • Keep in mind some of the upgrade versions may not be bootable.

If you used WinImage's resize option to convert one size to anther, that usually works. Although I would have started with 720k images, not 360k.

I just found out about the "Change Format" drop-down menu command from you, thanks!
