Q-DOS II version - it's never that simple!

And this is why I can't get more stuff done....

Winworld has a version of the Gazelle Q-DOS II file manager dated 1988. It looks to be a genuine disk image. Not sure off hand where it came from.

Great, 2.00, 1988, OK.

So I acquired a disk recently labeled Q-DOS II with a date of 1987. Supposedly Q-DOS II was first released in 1986, so at least it seems closer.

Looks good so far. Files are dated 1987.

Load it up in an emulator and:

Wat?

2.02? 1986?

WTF?

This IS an earlier version than the 1988 one, because this one is not compatible with DOS 4.0 or later since it bypasses DOS to read the disk and doesn't understand >32MB FAT.

The 1988 one has a readme that states DOS 4.0 compatiblity was added.

My best guess is perhaps the 1988 version was supposed to just be a minor update and they put "2.0" back instead of "2.03" or whatever.

So now I have to figure this out.

Hmm, Vetusware seems to have a Q-DOS I v1.21
