I've downloaded some of the system software .image but the disc copy refuses to recognize it. Am i using the wrong image writer?

  • If you are trying to restore/use images from Winworld directly on a real Mac, They should generally be "raw" 400k, 800k, or 1.44mb IMG files, and setting a type of "rohd" with a creator of "ddsk" (raw read only hard drive image) will permit Apple DiskCopy to open, use, and mount the file.

You can write 1.44mb Macintosh images from a Windows computer using WinImage, but not manipulate the contents.

To write a 400k or 800k image to a disk from a Windows computer requires a Kryoflux.
  • Im using a imac g3 running mac os 9.2.2, i know very little about macs, im more a pc guy
  • Well, you probably wouldn't need a Kyroflux for an internal disk drive.
