Internet Connection for Windows Whistler build 2531

edited February 2017 in Hardware
Hello,

I am trying to set up an internet connection on my virtual machine with Windows Whistler 2531 on it. I connected the ethernet controller to it, but it shows it as an unknown device. Here's a screenshot: EeGUyVs.png

I'm using VMWare Workstation Player 12 on Windows 10 to run the VM. If anyone can help me with this, I give you my thanks in advance.

  • There are usually a few NIC choices in VMWare. Which one did you choose?
  • I chose NAT for the VM.

I meant the card that it emulates. rtl8139? e1000? vmxnet3?

You're best off emulating one of the first two. If it's configured for any of the vmxnet options (which is paravirtualized NIC) then there's probably a lack of drivers.
  • VMware emulates a pcnet for XP IIRC. It should have drivers built-in, considering even Windows 95 does.

You may have troubles installing Tools on XP, especially as its a beta before any service packs.
