Originally released in 1984 by the Canadian company Xanaro that went bankrupt, and then by Migent, Ability is an integrated office suite for DOS that includes word processor, spreadsheet, database, telecommunications, business graphing, presentation graphics capabilities, and built in file management. It features good integration between the different components, with the ability to import, share, and dynamically update data between them. It was advertised as a very easy to use and a quick to learn system.

Astound makes your presentations memorable. It competed against Microsoft Powerpoint and many others. Astound Incorporated was acquired by Genesys Conferencing in 2001.

AutoCAD, from Autodesk and first released in 1982, is a powerful Computer Aided Design tool. It was, and still is, often considered the standard for CAD tools. Primarily for the IBM PC platform, it was ported to x86 machines with higher video resolutions such as the Zenith Z-100 and NEC APC. Intermittently, versions for the Macintosh appeared. Later versions use a dongle copy protection.

AutoCAD LT is a 2-D only design program targeted at casual drafting users. It was positioned as a lower cost offering, with fewer features than AutoCAD. Initially, it was intended as a replacement for Generic CADD - another 2D drafting tool that AutoDesk bought out and then abandoned. Unlike AutoSketch, AutoCAD LT has more design related features.

Borland Enterprise Server was Borland's Java EE Application Server. The product was developed in 1999 within the team of former Visigenic company that was acquired by Borland in 1997. Borland's Java Studio was supposed to have BES and JBuilder tightly integrated, but in reality this integration never happened. BES suffered compatibility problems even with Borland's own products (JDataStore, OptimizeIt). The appearance of free commercial grade (and more mature) application servers, like JBoss, made BES unattractive and unable to really compete with the former.

CA-Compete! is a graphical, object-based, multi-dimensional modeling and data viewing tool that is as easy to use as a spreadsheet and as powerful as a decision support system (DSS) or executive information system (EIS). Compete! looks and works like a spreadsheet, but is object-based. In other words, you define the names that Compete! uses to identify and locate data in a model. Despite being a 2-D CAD program, it had many features of high end 3-D CAD software, and competed directly with AutoCAD. GCI/Lotus/IBM Freelance Graphics is a vector based presentation and graphing package developed for DOS, OS/2, and Windows. It was intended for use alongside Lotus 1-2-3. Later versions were part of SmartSuite. Before it was acquired by Lotus it was known Freelance, from Graphic Communications.

Harvard Spotlight is a presentation utility for organizing and presenting graphs from Harvard Graphics, and graphics from Lotus Freelance. It features the ability to show one screen to the presenter, and a different screen to those viewing the presentation. The presenter can see stored speaking notes and timing information on-screen as they run the presentation.

"Hollywood", created by Publishing Solutions Inc and sold by IBM, was a flashy business presentation program for Windows 3.0. It features many easy to create visual effects, vector drawing, data graphing, and an outliner. Even under pre-TrueType Windows 3.0 it supports rescaleable fonts providing sharp large printed text. with the intent to complete a version for OS/2 Presentation Manager. It is unclear if an OS/2 version was ever completed and released. In 1991 IBM dismantled their IBM Desktop Software group, and Claris bought the rights to IBM Hollywood.
