It would also make adventure maps a LOT easier.

Instead of a thousand signs trying to explain something, just have a book to the map. The only thing better than that would be scripted NPCs.

yep, that'd be cool, esp. for SMP.

Oh fuck yes.

I'm going to have my own lore in the game. I'm going to write backstories, and leave books lying around. Books, stories for every situation! Find a nether portal just a few feet from a little shack? Investigate! You'll find out that the person who built the shack kept a journal, and that they were researchers sent on behalf of the King of the mighty Testican Empire, only 400 miles to the east of this location. Strange, piglike creatures had been seen exiting this portal, and the king believed it to be a risk to his kingdom, so he sent a mighty mage to research this strange portal. The mage was mighty, but he was obviously not mighty enough to escape the wrath of Hell, as you'll find a small, burned down shelter also built in the nether, with the last page of his demise, detailing how he offended the zombies by trying to kill one of their brethren for precious pork chops, since he'd lost his way from the nether portal, and was eeking out in a little hut that he'd built from materials he'd managed to take with him. However, the ghasts soon burnt this down, and the mage asked one thing upon his death- destroy the nether portal, and bring the king these notes. No Testificate shall ever die in this manner again, the Nether shall be sealed off from the earthly realm.

I have way to much time on my hands. That or I play too many RPGs.

If the books in question did something useful, then sure. I mean if I could drag+drop a book to avoid having to remember odd placements for crafting recipes, that'd be nice.

I know this probably belongs on the MInecraft forums, but I thought I might post it somewhere else, just to see the response.

Anyway...

Do you think we should be able to write books in Minecraft. You currently can't.

Use the POLL to submit your answer. However, feel free to banter about the topic.
